Embracing the Fall Season

Updated: Oct 18

I'm just beginning to see nature's fall appearing. The leaves are just starting to turn, and the mornings are starting to feel crisp. It's still not quite sweater weather, which is okay by me.

Last month I began purging my home, wrapping up projects that were started in spring/summer, harvesting and canning, and getting ready for the months of winter, and I know so many of you have already started doing much of the same. That is the beauty of how we embrace the cycles of nature and lean into the FALL season. By letting go, wrapping up, and harvesting.

This can also appear as an emotional letting go. Maybe even a relational letting go. Things from the past may appear again, so you face it and choose to release it. You also may be letting go of old beliefs, and beginning new routines and habits that will carry you into the winter.

I know that I am personally feeling the falling away that is happening in this season. As I mentioned, in my home, plus also in my personal self care, and in my mind and emotions. Fall is happening in SO many areas personally, and for the first time in a long time, I’m leaning in and letting the fall away happen.

So, if you, like me, are feeling the purging, releasing, and tying up of things/projects undone, this is a great season to allow in the change. What areas of your life are you feeling the fall season in?

Keep reading for more tips for embracing the FALL season.

9 tips to Embrace the Fall Season

  1. Purge: Start small. Maybe one closet. One set of cupboards. A desk. Then work your way through a room, one step at a time. Letting go of what is no longer needed, wanted, or broken, and keeping that which still serves, while creating space.

  2. Clean: After purging clean the space. With winter coming, there will be more time spent indoors. It’s a great time to deep clean in preparation. (Check out these fall cleaner recipes!)

  3. Lean into a new seasonal routine- especially around self care.

  4. Change up your meals. Roasting root vegetables, soups and warming spices all support your body.

  5. Change up the smell.  Start shifting diffusing from the bright summery smells, to those with a bit more spice and feelings of comfort.

  6. Lean into the emotions of the season. You may have some personal ‘letting go’ surfacing.

  7. Asking, “Is this working for me any longer?” “Is this in alignment for me?” “What needs to fall away?” And allowing the answers to come.

  8. Go for a sensory walk outside. Notice the sights, the sounds, the smells around you. This also helps with the nervous system, especially if those emotions are surfacing. Walking also helps move your energy, so you can energetically purge easier.

  9. Celebrate the harvest with some gratitude.
